Dr Dawn Castagno-Dysart is an Assistant Professor of Teacher Education with the Rochester Education Department (RED) in Rochester, Minnesota. Dawn leads pre-service teachers through both literacy and STEM-based courses and supervises clinical practices imbedded within those courses. Dawn also teaches a literacy based summer course which prepares graduate teachers for literacy instruction they will encounter in their early teaching career. Her research is focused on culturally relevant pedagogy, climate and culture of schools and the impact of teacher self-efficacy, and gender roles and stereotypes. Before becoming an assistant professor, Dawn held positions as elementary teacher, district-wide literacy specialist, and adjunct professor.
